Aysheh Alrfooh-
Aysheh's research in epigenetics focuses on investigating DNA methylation changes in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) by using various techniques and tools (DNA isolation and purification, RT‐PCR, DNA sequencing, etc.). Her work aims to identify accessible diagnostics and prognostics biomarkers for mental health disorders and to help to understand the biological mechanism underlying these diseases.
Kelsey Blocklinger
Kelsey's research poster, titled Raising a child with intellectual and developmental disability: Impact on maternal stress and social support focuses on assessing the stress levels and social support available to mothers of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), children with non-ASD developmental delay (DD), and typically developing (TD) children. Mothers completed questionnaires about their child’s development and their own maternal wellbeing, which showed mothers of children with non-ASD developmental delay (DD) have higher stress levels and lower social support compared to mothers of children with ASD and mothers of TD children.
